Following the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) showdown between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Wankhede Stadium, an intriguing scene unfolded as the captains Pat Cummins and Hardik Pandya engaged in conversation alongside MI batter Suryakumar Yadav.

Observers caught a glimpse of their exchange, hinting that the trio might have been discussing an incident involving the SRH skipper’s middle finger. The injury occurred due to an unfortunate mishap involving Cummins’ sister inadvertently closing the door on his hand, resulting in the loss of upper part of Australian star’s finger.

Hardik Pandya gets stunned by Pat Cummins’ story

In the video, Pandya and Surya appear utterly astonished by the narrative unfolding before them. Cummins openly divulged his experience, recounting the challenges he faced and the adjustments he made to master bowling despite having two central fingers of equal length.

The recent success of Cummins

Cummins has got remarkable success recently. As a player, he triumphed in the T20 World Cup 2021. However, 2023 proved to be an extraordinary year for Cummins. Serving as the captain of Australia, he clinched the World Test Championship (WTC), retained the Ashes series, and secured victory in the ODI World Cup 2023 by defeating India in the finals.

Currently presented in India, he has taken charge of SRH in the IPL 2024. Across 11 matches this season, he secured 13 wickets and contributed 77 crucial runs, boasting a remarkable strike rate of 164. Guiding SRH adeptly, he has steered them to the 4th spot on the points table with 6 wins in 11 matches, positioning them as formidable contenders for the playoffs. His leadership remains instrumental in SRH’s journey in the tournament.
