On Saturday (May 4), Vijaykumar Vyshak showcased his exceptional fielding skills with a stunning catch during Match 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

With GT poised at 136 runs in the 18th over and Rahul Tewatia steadily accumulating runs, RCB had a crucial task at hand to dismiss Tewatia and limit GT to a total below 150. Tewatia’s formidable presence on the crease, having scored 35 runs off just 20 balls, hinted at the potential for GT to surpass the 150 runs-plus mark.

However, in a crucial turn of events, Tewatia’s quest to propel GT to a formidable total came to an abrupt halt on the final ball of the 18th over by Yash Dayal. Attempting to seize control with a powerful stroke, Tewatia sought to pull a short delivery bowled by Vyshak across the line. Nevertheless, his execution faltered, resulting in a top edge that sent the ball soaring towards deep third. With precision timing and athleticism, Vyshak sprinted to his right and executed a flawless dive, securing the catch in a stunning display of fielding prowess

Following Tewatia’s departure, GT struggled to add runs to their total, managing only 11 runs before being bowled out for 147. Despite a shaky start at 19/3, contributions from David Miller, Shahrukh Khan and Tewatia helped GT post a respectable score. Mohammed Siraj, Dayal and Vyshak starred with two wickets each for RCB.

RCB found themselves at 107/4 in 8 overs.
