Glenn Maxwell, the Australian cricket star, is facing a challenging time on the field in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. With just 36 runs in eight matches at an average of 5.14 and five wickets to his name, Maxwell’s performance is far below expectations.

Glenn Maxwell’s declining form

Maxwell, known for his explosive batting and handy spin bowling, has been a shadow of his former self in IPL 2024. Despite a stellar performance in the previous season, where he amassed 513 runs in 15 matches, Maxwell’s current stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has been disappointing.

Once hailed as a match-winner, Maxwell’s recent seasons have been marred by inconsistency. Despite being retained by RCB ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions, Maxwell has failed to deliver consistently, raising questions about his form and utility in the squad.

Fans slam Parthiv Patel for his controversial take on Maxwell

Former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel stirred controversy with his scathing remarks on Maxwell’s performance. In a tweet from his official X account, Patel labeled Maxwell as the ‘most overrated player in the history of the IPL’ following a lackluster performance against Gujarat Titans (GT).

“glenn maxwell….HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of ipl…#IPL2024 ….,” Patel wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Patel’s criticism faced backlash from fans who deemed it unwarranted. Many supporters pointed out Patel’s own career statistics and questioned his credibility to judge Maxwell’s abilities.
