During the third T20I match against India Women in Sylhet on Thursday (May 2) Nigar Sultana, the captain of the Bangladesh Women‘s cricket team, visibly expressed her frustration at the on-field umpire’s decision following her LBW dismissal .

Bangladesh’s struggles despite promising start

Bangladesh entered the game already trailing in the five-match series, having been decisively defeated by India in the first two matches. Despite a promising start with Murshida Khan and Dilara Akter forming a formidable partnership during the powerplay, putting on 46 runs in the initial 6.3 overs, the team struggled to maintain momentum. Unfortunately, their innings took a downturn as wickets fell at regular intervals thereafter, resulting in a notable deceleration of their run rate.

Nigar Sultana’s frustration over LBW dismissal

Sultana showcased her determination by holding firm at the crease, contributing 28 runs off 36 balls to anchor Bangladesh’s innings. With 10 balls remaining and the team at 108/4, she faced Radha Yadav‘s delivery. Taking an aggressive stance, Sultana advanced down the pitch to meet the good length ball. However, her attempt to strike the ball down the ground proved unsuccessful as she misjudged its trajectory, resulting in it hitting her front pad. Despite the apparent impact appearing high, with Sultana positioned almost two meters down the pitch and the ball contacting her thigh pad, the umpire raised the finger.

In a display of evident frustration, as Sultana made her way off the pitch, she couldn’t contain her emotions. Shouting towards the dugout, she vented her dissatisfaction with the decision. Then, with visible exasperation, she flung her bat and helmet away as she crossed over the boundary, a stark reflection of her disappointment in the moment.
