In what was meant to be a celebratory game for Mumbai Indians’ (MI) opening batter Rohit Sharma on his 37th birthday, turned into a brief and disappointing outing as he was dismissed for just 4 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) won the toss and elected to bowl, setting the stage for a challenging match for MI.
Mohsin Khan sends Rohit Sharma back into the dugout
The game was barely underway when LSG pacer Mohsin Khan managed to strike an early blow for his team. In just the second over, Khan delivered a full-length ball which Rohit, attempting to hit over the cover, chipped straight to Marcus Stoinis. The former MI skipper could only contribute a single boundary before making his way back to the pavilion, a sight that left his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, visibly dejected in the stands.

Nehal Wadhera steers MI to a respectable total
Mumbai Indians’ struggles at the top of the order have been a recurring theme this season, and Tuesday’s match was no exception. Despite the early loss of Rohit, MI managed to put up a total of 144/7, thanks largely to a resilient knock of 46 off 41 balls by Nehal Wadhera, which included 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Mohsin, who took Rohit’s crucial wicket, finished with impressive figures of 2/36, further tightening LSG’s grip on the game. The performance of the LSG bowlers was commendable as they consistently pegged back MI’s batting lineup, preventing them from building any significant momentum.
