Watch: Faf Du Plessis’ Reaction Is Viral After Camera Zooms In On Coin Amid Toss Row

News

In a bid to turn their season around, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squared off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl in their IPL 2024 match against Kolkata. However, at the toss, an interesting incident took place with Faf in focus once again. The RCB skipper was seen smiling after the the cameraman zoomed into the coin to show the side. This comes after a huge toss controversey erupted following the match between the RCB and Mumbai Indians.

The controversy erupted after MI captain Hardik Pandya tossed the coin over everyone’s head, and match referee Javagal Srinath had to retrieve it, leading to speculations of toss tampering.

Faf then further added fuel to fire after he was seen explaining the incident to SRH captain Pat Cummins during the toss for their game earlier this week.

Since the controversey, the broadcasters have been zooming into the coin to address the tampering claims. Faf had a cheeky smile on his face after the process was repeated to ensure clarity regarding the toss.

Meanwhile, RCB made three changes to the side that lost to SRH last time out. Pacer Mohammed Siraj, all-rounder Cameron Green and leg-spinner Karn Sharma were all recalled for the game vs KKR, who remained unchanged.

Speaking at toss, RCB captain Faf said, “We will chase. This is probably a chasing ground, always has been. I’m a fan of abetting first when it’s really hot, but the temperature did drop after an hour or so yesterday, unlike in Mumbai or Chennai where it stays very hot. The batting is so strong that a general score or 60-70 isn’t considered great. We have three changes – Green and Siraj come back, so does Mayank Dagar. We know if we do a few things back, the momentum can be back and we do have the firepower.”

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer said, “Last afternoon game here, we know how the wicket plays, we would have loved to bowl as well. It’s stiflingly hot and we’ll look to make them as tired as possible. We’ve tried to keep things simple, it’s not about how you start, it’s about how you end, just stick to the basics. We are playing the same team. It’s important to assess the conditions and execute our plans, then it’ll go in our favour.”
