New Zealand‘s cricket sensation, Rachin Ravindra, has provided a glimpse about his mindset and sentiments ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction which will be held in December in Dubai.

Rachin has garnered immense admiration and support from cricket fans in recent months, particularly for his stellar display in the ODI World Cup 2023. The 23-year-old stood out as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating an impressive total of 578 runs in ten innings, boasting an exceptional average of 64.22, embellished with three centuries.

Rachin discusses his realistic outlook on the IPL 2024 auction

As the IPL 2024 auction approaches, Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Rachin reflects on the upcoming event. Despite the excitement and expectations surrounding his potential selection, the Wellington-born cricketer stresses the need to stay focused on the present. Grateful for every opportunity to represent New Zealand, Rachin has said he is currently directing his focus to the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh.

“Whether it is noise or what is being reported, I think what’s important, what matters right now is what series you have in front of you. There’s so much time to the IPL. There’s no guarantee that I will get picked up [in the auction]. There are no guarantees in life and cricket. I am just focused on what’s in front of me: the Bangladesh Test series. You stay in the present, you savour those moments. Every moment I get to play for New Zealand, I am very, very grateful,” Rachin said.
