Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli lost his cool during the second innings of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship match against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz dismissed Kohli on Day 3 of the second Test, being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

India’s top three batsmen were dismissed cheaply in their second essay, leaving them at 29-3. Kohli came in to bat at number 5, joining Axar Patel who was promoted to number 4 to counter the Bangladesh spin attack.

Kohli struggled at the crease and was eventually got out for 1 off 22 balls by Mehidy Hasan, with Mominul Haque taking a fine catch at short leg. As Kohli walked back to the pavilion, left-arm spinner Taijul Islam said something inappropriate, which made Kohli react angrily.

The umpires and Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan intervened to calm the situation. After Kohli left the field, Shakib was seen instructing Taijul to control his emotions.

In the press conference after the second day’s play, when Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was asked about Patel’s promotion, he said: “It’s management’s call. I think it was because of the left-hand, right-hand combination to try to make things difficult for bowlers.”

When asked about Kohli’s argument with the Bangladeshi player, Siraj replied he was taking an ice bath when the incident happened.

At stumps, India were 45 for the loss of 4 wickets, and they still need 100 runs to seal the series by 2-0. Mehidy Hasan has bowled brilliantly in the second innings with his three wickets.
