Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya had recently enjoyed a great run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 for Gujarat Titans (GT). Pandya led the Gujarat side to the prestigious title win in their maiden season.

On the banks of his impressive captaincy exhibition, Pandya has been given the opportunity to lead the ‘Men in Blue’ in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, starting this Sunday. Ahead of the two-match T20I battle against the Irish team, the 28-year-old shared thoughts on his captaincy style.

Pandya, who has played under two iconic captains, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli, revealed how much he has learned from both the global superstars of the game. The Baroda-based cricketer said he had taken a lot of good points from Dhoni and Kohli but made sure that he stayed natural and be more of himself.

“Obviously, I have taken a lot of things from them (MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli), but mainly, I wanted to be my own self. My understanding of the game is in a different way, for me, I have taken a lot of good points from them, but at the same time, I wanted to be natural and kind of, not be instinctive, I see more (the) situation than I can go with my gut,” said Pandya in the virtual presser as quoted by NDTV.

“It is about what the team requires in that point of time, what kind of decision I can take at that point, I focus more on that rather than thinking my gut is saying that I am going to go there. When you go on the gut, it is always 50-50, but I do not believe in that, I like to be practical, and I like to see the situation,” he added.
