India fast bowler, Shardul Thakur, got engaged with his girlfriend Mittali Parulkar on Monday in a short family function in Mumbai.

The Palghar-born pace-bowling all-rounder is currently on a break and has been rested from the ongoing home series against New Zealand after returning from the T20 World Cup.

Reportedly, Shardul had invited a limited number of guests-mostly close friends and family members for the function.

“There is a small engagement function at the Mumbai Cricket Association’s facility in BKC on Monday, for which he has invited 75-odd guests-mostly close friends and family members. The wedding is likely to take place after the T20 World Cup in Australia next year,” a source close to the player told the Times of India.

Shardul has so far played four Tests, 15 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 24 T20 Internationals (T20Is), for Team India, in which he has taken 14, 22 and 31 wickets, respectively. The right-armer has also played 61 matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has bagged 67 scalps.

Even in the recently concluded IPL 2021, Shardul impressed one and all and played a crucial role behind Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) fourth title triumph. The 30-year-old was the leading wicket-taker (21) for CSK and fourth overall.
