New Zealand record their highest-ever T20I total in dominating win over Scotland

New Zealand, on Friday, exhibited superexplosive batting courtesy of 17 sixes and 18 fours to register their highest-ever T20I total in the second game against Scotland.

Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell dominated the proceedings with respective half-centuries. They both made their career-best score in the shortest format. Chapman’s 83 came off 44 deliveries, while Bracewell hit unbeaten 61 in just 25 balls.

243/5 – vs West Indies
243/6 – vs Australia
238/3 – vs West Indies
222/5 – vs Scotland

In reply, the Scottish side could just reach 159/2, losing the contest by 102 runs. All-rounder James Neesham picked up two wickets for nine runs while Michael Rippon bagged a couple for 37 in 4 overs.

Chris Greaves was the top scorer for Scotland with 37 runs off 29 deliveries. He smashed one four and three sixes.

“To get that many runs was special. Credit to guys for being aggressive from ball one. Different guys have stepped up at different times. We have had guys coming in and going for it from ball one. Chapman is a quality player. Rippon did a pretty good job today,” said New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner in the post-match presentation.
